Funded by the Trust — At the Cathedral

At the Cathedral

The Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, Parnell, Auckland is one of several buildings in close proximity, which span the history of the Anglican Church in New Zealand.

The Cathedral, with its blend of traditional English Gothic and modern, stands in a precinct with the beautiful St Mary's, the former Cathedral Church; reputedly the largest wooden Gothic Revival church in the world.

The main construction of the Nave, designed by Professor Toy, took place between 1990 and 1995. He also conceived of a series of stained glass windows on the north face. The Edmiston Trust and Sir Robert Owens provided the funding for the Central Window, which was designed by Nigel Brown and made by Glassworks.
